Captured Thoughts
A thousand cotton thoughts melt over my head yesterday,
A hundred of them stayed.
Of those who made nest in my head,
Only a few were important in my heart.
Many thoughts wheeze by today,
Some are out to condemn
Some are out to praise
Some are out to tempt
Some are out to give me strength.
Which are the thoughts that should remain?
I know
But I can’t control.
Which are the thoughts that should go?
I know
But I can’t control.
A thousand cotton thoughts will melt over my head tomorrow
A hundred of them will probably stay.
Of those who made nest in my head,
Only a few will be important in my heart.
Many of those thoughts wheeze by the next day I’m sure,
Some are out to condemn
Some are out to praise
Some are out to tempt
Some are out to give me strength.
Will I not allow negative thoughts to ruin me?
Will I allow positive thoughts to saturate me?
I know.
I will choose to control.

This poem is dedicated to those of you who find it hard to break your thinking patterns, when you find that you are very much affected by the unnecessary thoughts going on in your mind. The poem repeats itself, just like some negative thoughts that doesn’t seem to go away in your mind. Don’t bow down to these thoughts, which will affect your mood and actions. Hold on to the helpful thoughts. Choose to think that the glass is half full, not half empty. Choose to focus your mind on worthy things – especially on this last lap towards examinations.
